Widsanupong Noonan
Né en 1987, il réside et travaille actuellement à Nakhon Pathom, en Thaïlande.
Widsanupong Noonan est titulaire d'une licence en beaux-arts (mention très bien) obtenue au département des arts visuels de la faculté d'architecture de l'Institut de technologie King Mongkut de Ladkrabang.
Il a ensuite poursuivi ses études avec un master en beaux-arts, spécialisé en arts visuels (peinture),
à l'université Silpakorn. En 2012, il a commencé à enseigner à l'Institut de technologie King Mongkut
de Ladkrabang en tant que chargé de cours. Il est aujourd'hui artiste indépendant et travaille à temps plein.
La créativité anime Widsanupong Noonan. Il incarne l'esprit du rêveur et de l'entrepreneur, constamment en quête de la valeur et de la beauté de l'art, dissimulées au sein de récits divers. Ses œuvres explorent fréquemment des thèmes universels, transformant ces concepts en créations qui suscitent des émotions difficiles à exprimer. Ses œuvres permettent aux spectateurs de ressentir directement ces émotions.
Tout au long de sa carrière, Noonan a accumulé de nombreuses récompenses, dès ses années d'école primaire. De 2008 à 2010, il a notamment remporté les prix suivants : le 2e prix de peinture contemporaine aux Panasonic Awards (10e édition) ; le prix de soutien aux jeunes artistes (25e édition) ; une sélection pour le 1er Lotus Star Project ; une bourse d'études en arts créatifs de la Fondation du général Prem Tinsulanonda ; une médaille d'argent au Silp Phirasi Award (26e édition) ;
le 3e prix et une médaille de bronze à l'Exposition nationale d'art (55e édition) ;
et la Coupe royale de peinture de Son Altesse Royale la princesse Maha Chakri Sirindhorn sur le thème
de « L'éducation thaïlandaise », décernée par le Bureau du Conseil de l'éducation. Il a également reçu
la médaille d'or lors de la 23e Exposition internationale d'échanges de calligraphie et de peinture,
qui s'est tenue au Musée d'art métropolitain de Tokyo en 2023.
Parallèlement aux concours, Noonan participe régulièrement à des expositions en Thaïlande et à l'étranger. Parmi ses expositions les plus importantes, citons : « Artistes unis contre la corruption », présentant
la série de sculptures « L’Ancien et le Jeune Homme », en collaboration avec Chai Ratchawat,
au Centre d’art et de culture de Bangkok (BACC) ; « NO MAN LAND », à One East Asia, Singapour ;
« Affordable Art Fair », à Singapour ; « Personne laissé pour compte : nous n’abandonnerons personne » (2016), une exposition de collecte de fonds pour les réfugiés du monde entier organisée par le HCR ;
« Art pour les réfugiés » (2019) au MOCA Bangkok ; « Bhoutan : un paradis sur le toit du monde », organisée par la Fondation Vimuttayalaya en l’honneur du roi de Thaïlande et pour renforcer les relations Theravada-Vajrayana, à la galerie EmQuartier, Bangkok ; l’exposition « Je te vois :
l’art pour le village d’enfants SOS » à River City Bangkok, au profit du village d’enfants SOS Thaïlande ; et « VENTES AUX ENCHÈRES D’ART AU PROFIT DE L’HÔPITAL KMC », au profit de la Fondation de l’Institut de technologie King Mongkut de Ladkrabang, au Centre de conférences C-ASEAN.
L’Institut d’ingénierie de Thaïlande, situé à Lat Phrao, à Bangkok, lui a commandé la sculpture
« Phra Visnukam ».
Parmi les expositions personnelles de Widsanupong Noonan, on peut citer « La Vérité du Temps,
l’Illusion des Relations » (2010) et « L’Illusion de l’Amour » (2017). Reconnu pour la profondeur
de ses œuvres et son rayonnement international, il continue d’inspirer et de toucher le public.

Widsanupong Noonan earned a first-class honors bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from the Department of Visual Arts at the Faculty of Architecture, King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang. He subsequently pursued a master’s degree in fine arts, focusing on visual arts (painting), at Silpakorn University. In 2012, he started his role as an adjunct lecturer at King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang. He is currently an independent artist working full-time.
Widsanupong Noonan is fueled by creativity. He embodies the spirit of a dreamer and a doer, perpetually in pursuit of the value and beauty of art concealed within diverse narratives. His works frequently delve into themes of human interest, turning those concepts into artworks that evoke emotions that are challenging to express. His creations enable viewers to directly experience these emotions. Throughout his career, Noonan has garnered a multitude of awards, starting with his primary school years. From 2008 to 2010, Noonan won the following notable awards: 2nd Prize in Contemporary Painting at the Panasonic Awards (10th edition); Young Artist Support Award (25th edition); selection for the 1st Lotus Star Project; Creative Arts Scholarship from the General Prem Tinsulanonda Foundation; Silver Medal at the Silp Phirasi Award (26th edition); 3rd Prize and Bronze Medal at the National Art Exhibition (55th edition); and the HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s Royal Cup in Painting on the theme of “Thai Education,” awarded by the Office of the Education Council. He was awarded the Gold Medal at the 23rd International Calligraphy and Painting Exchange Exhibition held at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum in 2023.
Beyond competitions, Noonan has consistently participated in exhibitions both domestically and internationally. Some of his prominent exhibitions include: “Artists United Against Corruption,” featuring the sculpture series “The Elder and the Young Man,” in collaboration with Chai Ratchawat, at the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC), “NO MAN LAND,” One East Asia, Singapore, “Affordable Art Fair,” Singapore, “Nobody Left Outside: We Won’t Leave Anyone Behind” (2016), a fundraising exhibition for refugees worldwide organized by the UNHCR, “Art for Refugees” (2019) at MOCA BANGKOK, “Bhutan: A Heaven on the Roof of the World,” organized by the Vimuttayalaya Foundation to honor the Thai King and strengthen Theravada-Vajrayana relations, at EmQuartier Gallery, Bangkok, “I SEE YOU Art for SOS Children’s Village” exhibition at River City Bangkok, supporting the SOS Children’s Village Thailand, “ART AUCTIONS KMC HOSPITAL” to support the King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang Foundation at the C-ASEAN Conference Center, Bangkok, The Engineering Institute of Thailand in Lat Phrao, Bangkok, has commissioned him to design and create the sculpture “Phra Visnukam.”
Widsanupong Noonan’s solo exhibitions include The Truth of Time, The Illusion of Relationships (2010) and Love Illusion (2017). Renowned for his profound emotional resonance and worldwide influence, he persistently motivates through his significant works.
