Hockney a commencé ses « dessins photographiques » en 2015.
Hockney began his "photographic drawings" in 2015.
His experiments first with Photoshop and then three-dimensional compositing and digitizing (in 2017) create an effect that the artist calls "3D without the glasses": elaborate virtual images, constructed thanks to a playful approach to varying perspectives.
The individually photographed 3D figures were digitally positioned in the space of the studio thanks to a technology called photogrammetry. Although viewed in 2D, the composite image implies the third dimension by presenting multiple perspectives and the element of time-because the viewer must look at each figure separately.
