Dans cette peinture, Gesine Arps construit un univers marin qui n’appartient pas à la réalité physique, mais à une dimension poétique et symbolique. Le bleu lapis-lazuli, profond
et enveloppant, domine la composition telle un fond à la fois abyssal et cosmique, un espace sans frontières où les formes flottent, affranchies de la gravité et de la logique naturelle.Au centre de la scène, le plongeur, immergé et émerveillé, devient le lien entre le monde réel et le monde imaginé : son regard grand ouvert suggère l’étonnement, la découverte, une totale ouverture à l’inattendu. In this painting, Gesine Arps builds a marine universe that does not belong to physical reality, but to a poetic and symbolic dimension. The deep and enveloping lapis lazuli blue dominates the composition like an abysmal and at the same time cosmic backdrop, a space without borders in which the forms float free from gravity and natural logic.
At the centre of the scene, the diver, immersed and amazed, becomes the link between the real world and the imagined one: his wide-open gaze suggests wonder, discovery, total openness to the unexpected. A visionary fauna and flora moves around him, in which fish, birds and doves of peace coexist without conflict, cancelling the separations between air and water, surface and depth. This harmonious coexistence refers to an idea of primordial balance and universal peace.
The presence of human figures - bathers who walk or linger on the seabed as on a sunny coast - introduces a temporal and spatial short circuit: the sea becomes an inner landscape, a place of memory and desire, where the terrestrial experience merges with the aquatic one. The sun, which filters through the sea plants, does not obey the physical laws but those of symbolic light: it illuminates the bottom like a revelation, bringing warmth and vitality even into the abyss.
Gold leaf and diamond powder are not mere decorative elements, but amplify the perception of sacredness and preciousness of the image. The pictorial surface vibrates, reflects, captures the gaze, transforming the sea into a bright and spiritual space. The work thus conveys a sense of contemplative joy, a positive energy that invites the observer to immerse himself, like the diver, in a dimension in which imagination, nature and humanity coexist in a serene and visionary balance.
