Série « Travail sur le terrain »
La série « Travail sur le terrain » est l'exploration artistique de Kavita de l'agriculture moderne.
À l'instar de sa célèbre œuvre « Travail sur le terrain », les vidéos explorent le langage visuel
de la consommation contemporaine et les désirs d'un monde de plaisir, tout en révélant le travail caché derrière la production de masse (à l'échelle industrielle) dans un environnement blanc de laboratoire. Différentes graines sont cultivées dans de grands conteneurs reconstitués.
Le corps de l'artiste, soumis à la mécanisation agricole, continue d'imiter et de fonctionner
comme des outils industriels.
L'exploration du travail quotidien par Kavita raconte spécifiquement l'histoire de son pays natal. Comme dans d'autres pays en développement, les travailleurs, en particulier les femmes, sont souvent sous-payés, traités injustement et négligés dans la société capitaliste actuelle. Pourtant, les vidéos, qui mettent
en valeur la joie, les couleurs réfléchissantes, l'humour noir et les courants sous-jacents de la violence, offrent une actualité universelle et contemporaine à la trajectoire historique de l'art féministe.
Pour Kavita, l'endurance extrême du corps est cruciale. (Le défi physique du corps) est une façon
de se libérer de son esprit, un mécanisme pour perdre le sens de soi. Cette objectification délibérée,
dit-elle, a fait de son corps une sculpture dans The Spade. Le corps de Kavita se transforme en pelle, creusant sans cesse pendant près de neuf minutes pour préparer le sol dans le récipient circulaire.
Son corps est manipulé pour monter et descendre, entrer et sortir du sol. Cette tâche répétitive et ardue permet à Kavita de parodier l'écart communément perçu entre humains et machines, et le corps oublié dans un monde technologique en pleine accélération. Au-delà de l'interprétation littérale, ce geste révèle également les mécanismes invisibles qui régissent le travail quotidien des femmes.
Dans les deux contextes, le dépouillement de la séduction et la confrontation s'avèrent puissants
entre les mains de Kavita, un cheval de Troie qui s'attaque aux idées reçues sur le genre, l'égalité
et le travail.

For 'Field Work Series (2020), Vatanajyankur's artistic research is explored on modern agriculture.
Like her previouslyacclaimed work, her 'Field Work' videos are visual languages of contemporary consumption and desire within a world of instant gratification while unveiling the hidden labor behind
the mass production. Within a white, laboratory-like environment, different types of seeds are grown inside the large reconstructed containers. The artist's body is forced to transform into agricultural machineries and continuously imitate and work as those industrialized tools.
Vatanajyankur's exploration and research of everyday labor is particularly telling stories of her homeland as well as the other developing countries where the laborers, especially women, are usually underpaid, being treated unjustifiably and overlooked by the current capitalist society. The video's happy,

The video's happy,
day-glow colors, dark humor and undercurrents of violence, however, bring a universality and contemporary currency to the historical trajectory of feminist art. For Vatanajyankur, extreme physical endurance offers a way to free herself from her mind: a mechanism to lose her sense of being.
This deliberate objectification, she says, turns her body into sculpture.

In The Spade (2020), Vatanajyankur's body is transitioning into a hoe or a spade, repetitively digging
for almost 9 minutes to adjust the soil conditions within a constructed circular container.
Her body is being controlled to move up and down, in and out from the soil. This repetitive and arduous task that Vatanajyankur performs parody a pervasive slippage between human and machine,
and foreground the forgotten body within a technologically accelerating world. Beyond this literal translation, this gesture also make visible the invisible mechanisms that govern women's everyday labour. In both contexts, paring seduction and confrontation proves a powerful device in Vatanajyankur's hands—a Trojan horse for tackling entrenched attitudes toward gender, equality and work.
