VALIE EXPORT vit et travaille à Vienne. Pionnière de la photographie conceptuelle, de la vidéo
et de la performance, elle a produit l'une des œuvres les plus importantes de l' art féministe
depuis les années 1960. En 1967, elle adopte le nom de VALIE EXPORT, une réinvention audacieuse
qui marque le début de sa nouvelle identité artistique. En 1968, elle co-fonde la Coopérative des cinéastes autrichiens. Elle a participé à de nombreuses expositions internationales, dont documenta 6 et 12
(1977 et 2007) et le Pavillon autrichien à la 39e Biennale de Venise en 1980.
Ces dernières années, son travail a été exposé au MAK Center for Art and Architecture at Schindler House, Los Angeles (2024) ; à la Fondation C/O Berlin (2024) ; à l'Albertina, Vienne (2023) ;
au Fotomuseum Winterthur (2023) ; et au Kunsthaus Bregenz (2023). Staatliche Kunsthalle Baden-Baden (2020) ; Pavillon Populaire, Montpellier (2019) ; Lentos Kunstmuseum Linz (2017) ;
Musée du Belvédère, Vienne (2010) ; Musée d'Israël, Jérusalem (2009) ; et Centre Pompidou, Paris (2007).
EXPORT a enseigné dans plusieurs institutions internationales, dont l'Université du Wisconsin,
le San Francisco Art Institute et l'Université des Arts de Berlin.
De 1995 à 2005, elle a été professeure de multimédia et de performance à l'Académie des arts médiatiques de Cologne. En 2019, elle a reçu le prix Roswitha Haftmann en reconnaissance de sa contribution exceptionnelle aux arts visuels. EXPORT a reçu le prix Max-Beckmann de la Ville de Francfort en 2022.
Grâce à l'acquisition de son œuvre prématurée, le VALIE EXPORT Center Linz a été fondé en 2015,
jetant les bases d'un centre de recherche international dédié aux arts médiatiques et à la performance.
En 2023, l'artiste a créé la VALIE EXPORT FOUNDATION à Vienne, une organisation à but non lucratifqui vise à préserver et à étudier son œuvre.

VALIE EXPORT lives and works in Vienna. A pioneer in conceptual photography, video and performance art, she has produced one of the most significant bodies of feminist art since the 1960s. In 1967, she adopted the name VALIE EXPORT, a bold reinvention that marked the beginning of her new artistic identity. In 1968, she co-founded the Austrian Filmmakers Cooperative.
