French Word - English Word - Museu Banksy Lisbon - Laugh Now
Apparue pour la première fois sur le mur d'une boîte de nuit de Brighton en 2002, cette œuvre
et le personnage du singe ont été utilisés à de nombreuses reprises par Banksy.
Parfait exemple de l'humour noir dont il fait preuve depuis ses débuts, Banksy place son œuvre
entre une critique de l'Homme qui asservit les autres êtres vivants et une alerte sur une révolution
qui gronde. Banksy montre ce singe, tel l'homme sandwich porteur d'un message inquiétant :
"Laugh now, but one day we'll be in charge".
La référence à la Planète des Singes (film culte et sans doute contemporain pour Banksy)
est assez évidente.

of the monkey has been used many times by Banksy. A perfect example of the dark humor he has shown since his beginnings, Banksy places his work between a critique of Man who enslaves other living beings and an alert about a rumbling revolution. Banksy shows this monkey, like the sandwich man carrying an ominous message: 'Laugh now, but one day we'll be in charge'. The reference to the Planet of the Apes
(a cult and undoubtedly contemporary film for Banksy) is quite obvious.
