HOMAGE TO PICASSO
Walter Furlan (1931- 2018) Great master of Murano glass. He encountered fire and sand at the age
of 12 and became a master at only 20. His meeting with Picasso at the Murano Glass Exhibition in 1963 marked a turning point: he granted him permission to interpret his works from the cubist period,
to give his masterpieces an extra dimension through glass. He was also allowed to continue using
his name after the artist's death. Today, his legacy lives on in his son Mario, who carries on his passion
and expertise by continuing to practise his art.

You are looking at a work of art that transcends time and space, combining the genius of Cubism
with the extraordinary craftsmanship of the Murano tradition. This three-dimensional stained glass sculpture with touches of filigree, inspired by Picasso's Dora Maar, is more than just an object:
it is a visual and tactile experience, an explosion of shapes and colours that comes to life before your eyes.

Created by legendary master glassmaker Walter Furlan, known as the Picasso of Murano,
this extraordinary work is the result of a meeting between two giants of art. With the approval of Picasso himself, Furlan transformed the two-dimensionality of the work on canvas into a vibrant and dynamic sculpture, giving three-dimensionality to a masterpiece that previously existed only on canvas.
The glass, moulded with incredible skill, captures the light in unexpected ways, giving the work
a depth and movement that seem to change at every angle.
Every detail, from the decomposed geometries to the bold colour contrasts, tells a story of innovation
and passion. The transparencies of glass blend with intense colours and bold lines, restoring the essence
of cubism in a form never seen before. This sculpture is not only a homage to Picasso,
but a celebration of art's ability to reinvent itself and excite in every era.

Owning this sculpture means coming into contact with a unique piece of history, with the magie
of Murano and with the audacity of an art that continues to surprise. An exelusive work, destined for
those who know how to recognise the value of an unrepeatable creation.gallery@pontneuf.art
