Bejart qui crée ce pas de deux sur le toit-terrasse de l'Unité d'habitation de Marseille le 9 août 1956.
Installée à Paris en 1947, Marta Pan rencontre l'année suivante Constantin Brancusi qui la confirme dans son intérêt pour des formes essentielles, d'abord inspirées par des végétaux. En 1952, elle crée ses premières Charnières, sculptures articulées en terre-cuite puis en bois. Sa collaboration avec Béjart l'amène à intégrer ses sculptures en partie mobiles ou évidées dans le jeu de la danse.
Avec ses allures de mandibule, Le Teck se referme à la fin du ballet sur le corps de la danseuse Michèle Seigneret.
This sculpture was featured in Maurice Béjart's Le Teck ballet, a pas de deux performed on the Cité Radieuse housing block roof terrace in Marseille on 9 August 1956.
Marta Pan moved to Paris in 1947 and the following year she met artist Constantin Brancusi who confirmed her interest in essential forms, initially inspired by plants. In 1952, she made her first Charnières, articulated sculptures in terracotta then wood. Her collaboration with Béjart led her to incorporate her partly mobile or hollowed-out sculptures into the dance. At the end of the ballet. Le Teck closes over the body of dancer Michèle Seigneret like a jaw.
