"Monsieur Aznavour" - A Film by Grand Corps Malade and Mehdi Idir

The Poster The film poster captures the singer's artistic soul through the red typography of "AZNAVOUR," evoking passion, energy, and intensity. The black silhouette with an open gesture symbolizes openness to the audience, reminiscent of "Take me away." The poster evokes nostalgia and respect for this iconic artist, singer, songwriter, and performer. The word "Monsieur" preceding the surname "AZNAVOUR" in large format underscores his international recognition. The style of the poster suggests a deep and emotional exploration of the artist's life, promising a rich narrative filled with history and emotion.

The Film According to Tahar Rahim, producer Jean-Rachid Kallouche, who is married to Charles Aznavour's daughter, initiated the project. "Monsieur Aznavour" is a film about universal nostalgia, friendship, and a bygone era, a film for those who haven't heard Aznavour sing around the world. Subtly, it's also a political statement in the sequence where the narration has Claire Chazal say that Aznavour, the son of immigrants and stateless people, became a symbol of French culture.

MEHDI IDIR and GRAND CORPS MALADE have successfully created a timeline of his life, a rhythmic narrative divided into five chapters. They don't hesitate to mention the attention he paid to his family, compensating for his absence by being generous with his loved ones. This raises the question of what is most important in life. As the images unfold, we see Charles Aznavour surrounded by many people, but over time, he becomes more withdrawn. Charles Aznavour, a sunny character in search of an unknown truth, his dark side. His sister Aïda, (Camille Moutawakil) a bold character, will be the film's common thread.

Tahar Rahim (Charles Aznavour) takes us by the hand and leads us into his world. His interpretation is full of precision, grace, and humility. Tahar Rahim was interested in exploring the darker side of Charles Aznavour.

Bastien Bouillon (Pierre Roche) and Tahar Rahim form a playful duo. Bastien Bouillon is the protagonist's companion, a duo of separation and reunion.

Marie-Julie Baup (Édith Piaf) is interesting in her role, both physically and vocally. She simply asserts herself with her verve, her comebacks, her sharp wit, and her teasing.

A must-see film.
